Description
A golden-baked chicken breast dish with a rich, aromatic garlic butter crust. Combines searing and oven-baking with periodic basting for juicy, flavorful results without greasy residue.
Ingredients
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (6oz each)
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
6 garlic cloves
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp white cooking vinegar
Coarse salt to taste
2 small shallots, finely diced
2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Melt 2 tbsp butter in oven-safe skillet until sizzling
Pat chicken breasts dry. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and half the Italian seasoning
Sear breasts in hot butter for 2-3 minutes per side until golden
In a small bowl, blend softened butter, minced garlic, shallots, remaining Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, white vinegar, and heavy cream
Spread garlic butter mixture evenly over seared breasts
Bake for 25-30 minutes, basting occasionally with pan juices
Rotate skillet halfway through cooking for even browning
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving with pan drippings
Notes
Use clarified butter for basting to prevent burning
Adjust seasoning to preference – add herbs like thyme or rosemary
Chicken can be prepped ahead and refrigerated until baking
Serve with roasted vegetables or buttered noodles
